A new enclosure for ETA Technology's rotary friction welder, designed for operator ergonomics and low production cost, and shown at IMTEX 2024.
The brief
Redesign the rotary friction welding machine's enclosure to match ETA Technology's new brand image and colours, while prioritising operator ergonomics.
Multiple windows give easy maintenance access without compromising the machine's look or function.
Sketching and review
After peer review with my team and the engineering design team, the final design was locked and modelled in detail.
Built for production
Cost mattered throughout, so the structure avoids expensive features such as fillets.
Colours were converted to the nearest RAL shades for efficient powder coating.

The machine was exhibited at IMTEX 2024 in its new enclosure.
